Police probe teenagers allegedly linked to secret societies

IPOH: A group of 33 teenagers and seven women arrested at a resort in Teluk Batik on Sunday on suspicion of having links with secret societies were caught in Tapah last month, police said yesterday.

Perak police chief Datuk Shukri Dahalan said the teenagers were 17-year-old Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students.

He said the group, known as “Genki Seven Malaysia”, gathered with their friends by communicating through the Internet and involved members from Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Terengganu, Penang and Perak.

“Police took statements from them, including from the individuals believed to be recruiting new members, before they were released on police bail,” he told reporters after attending the Perak police chiefs monthly gathering, here. — Bernama
