PUTRAJAYA, Jan 22 – The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has asked the DAP to immediately submit its annual statement following the Central Executive Committee (CEC) election on Dec 12 to assist in the probe on the allegations that there were irregularities in the election.
ROS Director-General Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman said the party still had 20 days to submit the statement.
Under Section 14(1) of the Societies Act 1966, a registered organisation including political parties must hold its general meetings and submit the annual statement which also contained the financial statement and list of its committee members within 60 days after the meeting.
“Today is the 40th day, the DAP headquarters has yet to submit (the annual statement). So, we can’t say much until we get the annual statement because we only know about the election from the press,” he told a press conference, here today.
On Dec 12, the DAP held its CEC election and announced the result three days later. However, they later admitted that there were several errors in the vote counting during the election and had made a correction.
Abdul Rahman said so far, the department had received five complaints alleging there were irregularities with two complaints lodged in Seremban and three more in Putrajaya.
