Menteri Besar Perak Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir today described the Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-election yesterday as an extraordinary and the sweetest victory in this blessed month of Ramadan.
“Certain quarters anticipated that it would be difficult for BN as the candidate (Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid) is not allowed to leave the house (as she was under ‘iddah’ for four months and 10 days, as stipulated in Islamic law, following the death of her husband).
“But, Alhamdulillah, the voters in Kuala Kangsar still gave their mandate to BN candidate,” Dr Zambry said after presenting Aidilfitri donations to approximately 400 recipients comprising the poor, disabled and orphans in Pulau Pangkor here today.
The menteri besar said the victory also proved that the people could no longer accept the politics of hate and provocation bandied by the opposition, and preferred the BN’s ‘people first’ approach.
“The people know that the politics of hate and provocation will not do them any good,” he said. — Bernama
